Brian Chesky is co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, setting the company’s vision and strategy. He and Joe Gebbia started Airbnb in 2007 as a way to make money on their San Francisco apartment when the city’s hotels were booked. Since then, he has overseen Airbnb’s growth to over 4 million hosts who have welcomed more than 1.5 billion guests worldwide. Early in his career, Chesky briefly had his own firm, Brian Chesky Design, and was an industrial designer at 3DID for two years. A signatory to the Giving Pledge, Chesky was named among the 100 Most Powerful People in Global Hospitality by the International Hospitality Institute in 2022 and to the Youngest Forbes 400 list in 2016, among other recognition.
