Greil Marcus is an author and music journalist. For the last several years, he has taught American studies at University of California, Berkeley; he has also taught at Princeton University, the New School, and the Graduate Center in New York. Marcus is the author of, most recently, Real Life Rock and Three Songs, Three Singers, Three Nations. Other books include The History of Rock ’n’ Roll in Ten Songs; The Shape of Things to Come: Prophecy and the American Voice; The Old, Weird America; The Dustbin of History; Lipstick Traces; and Mystery Train. He is co-editor of A New Literary History of America.
