Tom Steyer is the co-executive chair of Galvanize Climate Solutions, a global investment firm delivering capital and expertise to accelerate climate solutions. Previously, he was co-chair of California Governor Newsom's business and jobs recovery task force. Prior to that, Steyer was a Democratic presidential candidate and subsequently co-chaired Biden's Climate Engagement Advisory Council to mobilize climate voters. An investor in grassroots efforts for clean air laws and forcing Big Tobacco to pay its share of health care costs, he helped prevent Big Oil’s effort to roll back California’s climate protections. Steyer is the founder of the GiveGreen platform to elect climate leaders and NextGen America youth voter engagement organization, and co-founder of Beneficial State Bank, a triple bottom line community development bank. Early in his career, he founded Farallon Capital Management and was a partner at Hellman and Friedman private equity firm.
