
Pedro Reyes

Pedro Reyes is a Mexican artist whose work employs sculpture, architecture, video, performance and participation to address social and political issues. In 2023, he organized the “Artists Against the Bomb” poster exhibition by 200 artists advocating for nuclear disarmament. In 2022, Reyes developed the “Atomic Amnesia” project to raise awareness of the growing risk of nuclear conflict. Other works include “Sanatorium,” “pUN: The People's United Nations,” and “Palas por Pistolas,” in which guns were melted down to make shovels used to plant trees. Reyes has also held faculty positions at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Bard College, curated numerous shows, and contributed to art and architectural publications. For his work on disarmament, Reyes received the Luxembourg Peace Prize in 2021.
