Adar Poonawalla

Adar Poonawalla is CEO of Serum Institute of India, a vaccine manufacturing firm. In this role since 2011, his focus is bringing down vaccine prices and leading innovation and development of vaccines against preventable diseases. Previously at SII, Poonawalla focused on ensuring products were licensed and prequalified by the World Health Organization for supply to United Nations agencies including UNICEF and PAHO. He is the co-founder, with his wife Natasha, of the Villoo Poonawalla Charitable Foundation, working to increase education, health care, safe water and environmental sanitation. He is also the founder of Poonawalla Finance. Poonawalla’s recognition includes being named the 2020 Indian of the Year – CSR Category, 2021 Entrepreneur of the Year by Economic Times and to Fortune’s 2021 Greatest Leaders list.
