Dixon Chibanda is the founder and director of Friendship Bench, which trains community grandmothers in basic cognitive behavior therapy that they provide from wooden park benches in Zimbabwe and beyond. In 2023 over 200,000 people received therapy from a trained community grandmother in Zimbabwe and other countries. Chibanda is based in Zimbabwe and London where he is also a professor of psychiatry and global mental health at the University of Zimbabwe and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
