Jaymes Black is CEO of Family Equality, working to protect LGBTQ+ youth and families in schools, lower barriers to parenthood and advance lived and legal equality for LGBTQ+ families. The organization also works to advance racial and social justice for BIPOC communities, those living in rural areas and those living at or below the poverty line. A public speaker, Black regularly shares their experience growing up LGBTQ+ in the rural South, being pulled out of the closet and navigating life as a Black, queer parent, including on “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart” and the “Tamron Hall Show.” Black’s commentary has also appeared in The Advocate and USA Today. Their recognition includes being named to Out Magazine’s Out100 list in 2022.
