Adam Silver
Commissioner, National Basketball Association
Adam Silver is commissioner of the National Basketball Association, appointed in 2014 and presiding over a global sports and media business built around five professional basketball leagues. He was previously NBA deputy commissioner and COO, and since joining the league in 1992 has held positions including president and COO of NBA Entertainment, NBA chief of staff, and special assistant to the commissioner. He started his career as a lawyer. Silver was named SportsBusiness Journal’s Executive of the Decade and ranked No. 1 on its list of 50 Most Influential People in Sports Business. He’s been named to the TIME 100, Fortune’s World’s 50 Greatest Leaders, and Sports Illustrated Executive of the Year, among others. His service includes the Council on Foreign Relations and Rockefeller Foundation.
