Dean and Doyle Rogers Distinguished Professor of Law, Belmont University College of Law; Former U.S. Attorney General

Alberto Gonzales is the dean and Doyle Rogers Distinguished Professor of Law at Belmont University College of Law. Previously, he was the U.S. attorney general from 2005 to 2007 and counsel to President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005. Prior to this, Gonzales was a Texas Supreme Court justice and, before that, Texas secretary of state. Earlier, he was general counsel to the governor of Texas. Gonzales began his career practicing business law and was a partner at Vinson and Elkins law firm.
