Alberto Ibargüen is president and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. He is the former publisher of the Miami Herald, which won three Pulitzer Prizes during his tenure, and El Nuevo Herald, which was awarded Spain’s Ortega y Gasset Prize for excellence in journalism under his leadership. Ibargüen previously worked at the Hartford Courant and Newsday. Prior to that, he practiced law and served in the Peace Corps. Ibargüen serves on the boards of the Paley Center for Media, the National Museum of the American Latino, and the Karsh Institute of Democracy at University of Virginia. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
