Alejandro Gibes de Gac is founder of Springboard Collaborative, which he started in 2011 to close the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school. As a first-grade teacher in Philadelphia, he had become frustrated that students lack continuous access to learning at home and school. Gibes de Gac immigrated with his family to the United States at age seven, and at twelve published a memoir chronicling his challenges transitioning. An alumnus of Teach for America and McKinsey & Company, he received the 2017 People of Promise award from America’s Promise and was named “one of the world’s best emerging social innovators” by Echoing Green, among other honors.
