Alex Honnold is a professional rock climber who is known for his free-solo ascents of some of the biggest rock walls in the United States. His ascent without ropes of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park is the subject of the film Free Solo, which won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary. Honnold has been profiled by “60 Minutes” and The New York Times, featured on the cover of National Geographic, appeared in international television commercials, and starred in numerous adventure films, including the Emmy-nominated Alone on the Wall. He is also the founder of the Honnold Foundation, an environmental nonprofit.
