Allan Shulman is an architect, author, editor, and curator. He is the principal of Miami-based architecture and design firm Shulman + Associates, which he founded in 1996 with a focus on creating relevant, site-specific designs. With a research focus on themes of modernism, tropicality, and urbanism, Schulman is also a professor and director of graduate programs in architecture at University of Miami School of Architecture. In 2020, he led a team of planners, designers, and engineers in the development of Buoyant City: Historic District Resiliency and Adaptation Guidelines for the City of Miami Beach. Elevated to Fellowship in the AIA in 2008, Schulman was awarded the AIA Florida Gold Medal for Design in 2017.
