Amna Nawaz is the chief correspondent and primary substitute anchor for “PBS NewsHour.” Her coverage includes politics, immigration, foreign affairs, health care, climate change, and culture. In 2019, Nawaz became the first Asian American and Muslim American to moderate a presidential debate. Previously, she was an anchor and correspondent at ABC News, anchoring breaking news, leading digital coverage of the 2016 presidential election, and hosting the “Uncomfortable” podcast. Before that, Nawaz was a foreign correspondent at NBC News and the founder and managing editor of the network’s Asian America platform. Her honors include an Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, and a Society for Features Journalism award. Nawaz is a Mediawise Ambassador and a regional judge for the Livingston Award.
