Ann B. Friedman is the founder and chair of Planet Word, an interactive museum of words and language in Washington, DC, opening in 2019. A former teacher, she taught beginning reading and writing for nine years. From 2010 to 2016, Friedman was board chair of SEED Foundation, the parent of the nation’s only inner-city, public, college-prep boarding schools. She is a director of Conservation International, serves on the boards of the Aspen Music Festival and School and the National Symphony Orchestra, and is a trustee of the Aspen Institute serving on the advisory board of Ascend, the program to end family financial insecurity through a two-generation approach.
