Barbara F. Walter is the Rohr Chair in Pacific International Relations at University of California, San Diego, School of Global Policy and Strategy. A co-founder of the Political Violence @ a Glance blog, she has authored award-winning books on civil wars, including How Civil Wars Start and How to Stop Them. Walter is an editorial board member of American Political Science Review and Journal of Politics and writes for The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, and Los Angeles Times. She’s a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a frequent guest on CNN, and an active consultant for the World Bank, the United Nations, the Department of Defense and Department of State, and the January 6th committee.
