Executive Director, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency
Brandon Wales is executive director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), responsible for leading long-term strategy development, managing policy initiatives, and ensuring effective agency operational collaboration. In February 2022, he was also appointed lead for the federal government’s domestic preparedness and response related to the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Prior to this, Wales was acting director of CISA and led the response to the SolarWinds Orion supply-chain attacks, Microsoft Exchange vulnerabilities, and the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack. Additionally, he completed the reorganization of the agency following the passage of the CISA Act of 2018, which established it as an independent agency. Earlier, Wales was director of the Homeland Infrastructure Threat and Risk Analysis Center. His recognition includes two Department of Homeland Security Distinguished Service Medals.
