Chris Erickson
Artist
Chris Erickson is an artist whose use of color blurs the line between sculpture and painting, encouraging the examination of color as expression and its relationship to human behavior. His work reflects his ties to graphic design, graffiti art, and fine art techniques. Erickson uses spray paint, acrylic, canvas, and panel, often merging industrial design and fabrication into his creative process. A notable piece is his “Melting Gondola” sculpture set atop Aspen Mountain. Other works include “SuperULTRAmega,” an interpretation of distilling the distracting noise of the modern technological world into an energy display, and mole©ules, a series of character-like icons representing the magnification of various groups and beliefs, often speaking to systemic issues.
