Cindy Gillespie is director of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson in March 2016. She oversees Medicaid, child welfare, juvenile justice, and other programs that support the well-being of the state’s most vulnerable populations. Gillespie’s previous career positions include serving as a principal at multinational law firm Dentons, where she led the health policy and health insurance exchange teams, and senior managing director of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. She was an advisor to former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney on health policy and federal programs and served in senior management for both the Salt Lake (2002) and Atlanta (1996) Olympic Games.
