Daniel Huttenlocher is the inaugural dean of the Schwarzman College of Computing at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His main research interests are in computer vision, social media, and understanding AI. Previously, Huttenlocher was the inaugural dean and vice provost of Cornell Tech, Cornell University’s digital-technology-oriented graduate school, which he helped found. His mixed academic and industry background also includes computer science faculty member at Cornell, researcher and manager at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, and CTO of a fintech startup. Huttenlocher’s research and teaching have been recognized by a number of awards, including ACM Fellow and CASE Professor of the Year. He is a board member of Corning and Amazon, and past chair of the MacArthur Foundation.
