Daniel Zajfman

President, Weizmann Institute of Science

Daniel Zajfman is president of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. He was elected to the position in November 2006, becoming, at age 47, its youngest president. Since 2001, Zajfman has been an external member of the Max Planck Institute of Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg, Germany. He joined the staff of the Weizmann Institute’s Department of Particle Physics (now the Department of Particle Physics and Astrophysics) in 1991, starting as a senior scientist. He was subsequently promoted to associate professor and then full professor, in 2003. Zajfman’s honors include a Levinson prize in experimental physics.
