Daniella Levine Cava is the mayor of Miami-Dade County, elected in 2020. Prior to this, she was a Miami-Dade County commissioner from 2014 to 2020. Previously, Cava founded Catalyst Miami to provide assistance to low- and middle-income families through service, education and advocacy. Earlier in her career, Cava was acting, then deputy, legal director for the 11th Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem program and founded Voices for Children. She also was director of the education advocacy project at Legal Services of Greater Miami. Cava’s recognition includes the National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and the Youth’s Most Distinguished Pioneer Award and the Joanne Hayes Democracy and Mentoring Award from the League of Women Voters.
