David Byrne is an artist and founder of the Arbutus Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reimagining the world through projects that inspire and educate, including Reasons to be Cheerful online magazine. Recent works include “David Byrne’s American Utopia” on Broadway and the Spike Lee directed film version; SOCIAL! Social; and Distance Dance Club at The Park Avenue Armory. Co-founder of the group Talking Heads, Byrne has released nine studio albums and founded the record label Luaka Bop. Also a photographer, filmmaker, and writer, his latest book is A History of the World (in Dingbats): Drawings and Words. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member with Talking Heads, Byrne’s honors include an Oscar, a Grammy, and a Golden Globe.
