David Daokui Li

David Daokui Li is a professor of economics and director of the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking at Tsinghua University. His research and teaching cover government and economics, economic development, comparative economics, and the Chinese economy. Li is also co-president of the Society for the Analysis of Government and Economics. In 2019, he was appointed chief economist of the New Development Bank. Prior to this, Li was a member of the monetary policy committee of China’s central bank and a consultant to the International Monetary Fund. Previously, he was the founding dean of Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University from 2014 to 2017. From 2008 to 2023, Li was a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
