David McCormick is the author of Superpower in Peril: A Battle Plan to Renew America. A U.S. Senate candidate for Pennsylvania in 2022, he is the former CEO of Bridgewater Associates global macro-investment firm. Previously, McCormick was U.S. Treasury undersecretary for international affairs in the George W. Bush administration during the global financial crisis. Prior to that, he was deputy national security advisor for international economic policy and undersecretary of the commerce for export administration. From 1999 to 2005, McCormick was CEO of Freemarkets and then president of Ariba software companies. Earlier in his career, he was a consultant at McKinsey & Company. McCormick is a former Army officer and veteran of the first Gulf War.
