David Rank

Dave Rank is head of the China practice at The Cohen Group and a Senior Fellow at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. He previously spent 27 years in the Foreign Service, most recently as chargé d’affaires at the US embassy in Beijing. Rank also served at the US embassies in Kabul, Athens, and Port Louis (Mauritius). In Washington, he worked in the office of the special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, at the State Department’s Korea desk, as special assistant to the undersecretary of state for political affairs, and as a Fellow at Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of Diplomacy. In 2015, Rank received the State Department’s Distinguished Honor Award.
