Deb Roy is professor of media arts and sciences and director of the Center for Constructive Communication at MIT. He is also co-founder and CEO of Cortico, a nonprofit social technology organization developing a conversation platform for underheard voices and systematic listening. Previously, Roy was a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and, before that, executive director of the MIT Media Lab. Prior to this, he was co-founder and CEO of Bluefin Labs, which was acquired by Twitter. Earlier in his career, Roy was chief media scientist at Twitter. He is the author of over 175 academic papers, including a 2018 Science cover story on the spread of false news. He is a member of the Knight First Amendment Institute board and “Frontline” advisory council.
