Deborah L. Birx, former White House Coronavirus Response Task Force coordinator, is chief medical and science advisor at ActivePure Technology and senior fellow at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. Previously, she was ambassador-at-large as the coordinator of US government activities to combat HIV/AIDS and US special representative for global health diplomacy. Birx oversaw the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) as well as engagement with The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. She also was director of CDC's Division of Global HIV/AIDS. As a military-trained clinician she served as the director of the US Military HIV Research Program at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Her book, Silent Invasion: The Untold Story of the Trump Administration, Covid-19, and Preventing the Next Pandemic Before It's Too Late, was published in April 2022.
