Elisa Villanueva Beard is CEO of Teach for America since 2015, overseeing 67,000 leaders in 1,500 schools across 37 states and Washington, D.C. Prior to this, she was chief operating officer at the organization. A 1998 Phoenix member, Villanueva Beard joined Teach for America’s staff in 2001 as executive director of the Rio Grande Valley region. She is a board member of the Holdsworth Center, City Fund, and GoGuardian, and an advisory board member of AT&T’s Aspire Accelerator program. A founding partner of Starts With Us, Villanueva Beard was named one of the Top 20 Voices in Social Impact by LinkedIn and one of the 50 Most Powerful Latinas by the Association of Latino Professionals for America.
