Elissa Slotkin is a US Representative of the 8th congressional district of Michigan. Elected in 2018, her priorities include affordable health care, lowering prescription drug prices, and protecting access to clean water and Michigan’s Great Lakes. Her national-service career includes serving as acting assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs from 2015 to 2017 and a senior position at the Pentagon. Slotkin also held defense and intelligence positions under Presidents Bush and Obama, including roles at the White House and the national intelligence director’s office, and was a Middle East analyst for the CIA, working alongside the US military during three tours in Iraq as a militia expert.
