Elizabeth Cheney

Liz Cheney is a professor of practice at the University of Virginia Center for Politics. She is also the former U.S. representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district. There, Cheney chaired the House Republican Conference and was vice chair of the select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection. Prior to this, she was principal deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs at the State Department. Earlier, Cheney practiced law at White and Case and the International Finance Corporation. She is co-author, with her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, of Exceptional: Why the World Needs a Powerful America. Cheney received the 2022 John F. Kennedy Presidential Library’s Profile in Courage Award, with a commendation for her consistent and courageous voice in defense of democracy.
