Emily Parker is a Future Tense Fellow at New America, where she wrote Now I Know Who My Comrades Are: Voices from the Internet Underground. Previously, she was a policy planning staffer at the US State Department, advising on internet freedom, digital diplomacy, and open government. Parker co-founded Code4Country, which brought together Russian and American software developers to identify solutions to government transparency challenges. Her other digital diplomacy projects are Green Electronics (China) and Make Energy (Mexico). Parker has been a writer and editor for The Wall Street Journal, an editor at The New York Times, chief strategy officer for Silicon Valley start-up Parlio, and an advisor to the Markle Foundation.
