Ethan Berke is chief public health officer and senior vice president at Optum Health, part of UnitedHealth Group. A family physician and epidemiologist, Berke oversees Optum's Enterprise Integration and Innovation team and leads public health and prevention efforts including infectious disease, emergency preparedness, chronic illness prevention, equity, and health disparities. He previously was enterprise chief medical officer in UHG’s Global Research and Development group and chief medical officer of population health solutions and vice president of clinical innovation at Optum. Berke is a medical officer in the U.S. Health and Human Services National Disaster Medical System on a Disaster Medical Assistance Team. Earlier, he was a professor at Dartmouth College researching the role of the built environment in health, educating students, leading the Dartmouth-Hitchcock primary care service line, and practicing as a primary care clinician.
