Gabrielle Starr
President, Pomona College
Gabrielle Starr is president of Pomona College. A scholar of English literature, neuroscience, and the arts, she researches the brain through MRI to understand how people respond to art. Previously, Starr was dean of NYU’s College of Arts and Science and recently served on the California Higher Education Recovery with Equity Taskforce. The author of three books, her latest is Just in Time: Neuroscience and the Temporality of Aesthetics. Starr is a national voice on access to college for students of all backgrounds, the future of higher education, women in leadership, and the importance of the arts. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Washington Post, and Financial Times.
