Gary Butts is executive vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Mount Sinai Health System and its chief diversity and inclusion officer. He is also dean for diversity programs, policy, and community affairs at Icahn School of Medicine, where he is a professor of pediatrics, medical education, environmental medicine, and public health. A member of the senior leadership team since 1998, Butts has provided health care services to Harlem residents for over three decades and developed and spearheaded efforts to improve racial, ethnic, and gender diversity across the School of Medicine for 15 years. His leadership has been recognized by The Network Journal, the National Association of Minority Medical Educators, the National Medical Association, and the National Hispanic Health Foundation.
