Gary Knell is senior advisor for media and social impact practices at the Boston Consulting Group and executive chairman of Common Sense Networks. Previously, he was chairman of National Geographic Partners and before that, president and CEO of the National Geographic Society. Earlier, Knell led National Public Radio and Sesame Workshop, where he worked for over 20 years. He has also been senior vice president at WNET/PBS THIRTEEN in New York and counsel to the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs and Judiciary Committees. Knell is a board member of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, StoryCorps, the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, the Society for Science and University of California Berkeley School of Journalism.
