Geno Auriemma is head coach of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball program. During his 39-season tenure, Auriemma took the Huskies from just one winning season to 11 NCAA Championships, 22 Final Fours, six perfect seasons and 57 conference championships. He was also head coach of the U.S. Women’s National team for eight years, leading Team USA to 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medals. Auriemma led the United States to gold in the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championships. A 2006 inductee to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, he has been named Naismith National Coach of the Year eight times, AP National Coach of the Year nine times and WBCA National Coach of the Year seven times.
