Hansel Porras Garcia is an artist and filmmaker. Queer, Cuban-born and based in Miami, his works explore the Hispanic multiculturalism of Miami, focusing on the Cuban diaspora and examining themes such as immigration, family and identity. Porras Garcia is also the cinematic manager at Oolite Arts, where he supports local filmmakers and contributes to the advancement of their careers. In 2021, he was chosen as Oolite Arts’ cinematic resident to work on his feature film “Febrero.” The film premiered at the 40th Miami Film Festival and earned the Knight Made in MIA Award. Also a writer and actor, his short stories have been published in anthologies and entered in contests.
