Harold Hongju Koh is the Sterling Professor of International Law at Yale Law School, where he has taught since 1985. A senior advisor to President Biden, he has served under three other US presidents, including as legal advisor to the secretary of state in the Obama administration and assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor from 1998 to 2001. Early in his career, Koh clerked for US Supreme Court justice Harry Blackmun. He has authored eight books and received 17 honorary degrees.
