Ify Aniebo is a PhD candidate in clinical medicine and infectious tropical diseases at Oxford University and an Exxon Mobil and Wellcome Trust Scholar. After suffering from bouts of malaria as a child, she decided to fight back by studying malaria drug resistance and its implications for vaccine work as a molecular geneticist. Aniebo is founder and editor of African Health magazine. She previously worked as an HIV research associate at Clinton Health Access Initiative. In 2010, she was named Scientist of the Year and Young Person of the Year at Nigeria’s Future Awards. She is an Aspen Institute New Voices fellow.
