Isabelle Kamariza is president and founder of SolidAfrica, which provides fresh food to patients in the two largest public hospitals in Rwanda. She was a law school dropout in Brussels when she encountered the serious issue of homelessness there, and with her friends began feeding 200 homeless people. After visiting home in Rwanda and being told about the lack of food in public hospitals, Kamariza started SolidAfrica. An ambassador for One Young World and a 2019 Aspen Institute’s New Voices Fellow, she views the fellowship as a way to advocate for food as medicine, because many other countries face the same pressing issues in global health related to access to food.
