Jack Rakove

William Coe Professor of History and American Studies, Professor of Political Science, Stanford University

Jack Rakove is the William Coe Professor of History and American Studies and political science professor at Stanford University, where he has taught since 1980. He has authored seven books, including Original Meanings: Politics and Ideas in the Making of the Constitution, which won the Pulitzer Prize in History, and Revolutionaries, which was a finalist for the George Washington Prize, and edited seven others, including The Unfinished Election of 2000. He has written over 60 op-eds for major newspapers, has appeared on “The Daily Show” and “PBS NewsHour,” among others, and was academic adviser to the award-winning animated PBS series “Liberty’s Kids.”
