James Coulter is a founding partner and executive chairman of private investment firm TPG. He is also managing partner of TPG Rise Climate, a private equity fund focused on fighting climate change, and co-managing partner and board member of The Rise Fund, its impact investing platform. Coulter has been involved in some of the biggest leveraged buyout transactions on record, including the takeover of Continental Airlines in 1993. Prior to TPG, he was with Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb and then Robert M. Bass Group. Coulter’s board service includes Creative Artists Agency, Philz Coffee, and Rodan + Fields. He also serves on the Stanford University Board of Trustees and the Common Sense Media Board of Advisors. (TPG is a 2022 Festival Underwriter)
