Janice Jackson

Janice K. Jackson is CEO of Chicago Public Schools, the third-largest school district in the country. Immersed in CPS her whole life, she was a student from Head Start through 12th grade, a teacher at South Shore High School, and then principal, network chief, and chief education officer. As CEO since 2018, departments under her purview include the Office of College and Career Success and the Office of Diverse Learner Supports and Services. Jackson’s efforts have contributed to record-high graduation rates and rising standardized test scores, especially among English-language learners. A former member of University of Chicago’s Network for College Success, she’s been honored as a Woman Making History by the National Council of Negro Women Chicago.
