Jason Farago is an art critic at large for The New York Times. He has reviewed exhibitions, conducted interviews, and reported features across the United States and in a dozen foreign countries, and in 2020 he helped develop Close Read, a Times digital initiative that elaborates the meaning of a single work of art, detail by detail. Farago has been a regular contributor to the Guardian, The New Yorker, Artforum, and other publications. He co-founded and was editor in chief of the art magazine Even, whose ten-issue run is collected in the anthology Out of Practice. In 2017, Farago was awarded the inaugural Rabkin Prize for art criticism.
