Jason Matheny is director of Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity in the office of the director of national intelligence. Before becoming IARPA director in 2015, he was program manager, associate office director, and office director. The co-founder of two biotechnology companies, Matheny previously worked at Oxford University, the World Bank, the Applied Physics Laboratory, the Center for Biosecurity, and Princeton University. His research, published widely in trade journals, has been profiled in The New York Times’ annual Ideas of the Year, Discover Magazine’s Top Science Stories of the Year, and in other publications. He is the recipient of the Intelligence Community’s Award for Individual Achievement in Science and Technology.
