J.B. Pritzker is the governor of Illinois, elected to his second term in 2022. In this role, he proposed and signed a comprehensive clean energy bill, making Illinois a national leader on climate action and the first state in the Midwest to pass a law phasing out fossil fuels. Prior to this, Pritzker founded 1871, a nonprofit small-business incubator in Chicago. Previously, he co-founded Pritzker Group Private Capital and served as chairman of the ChicagoNEXT council on innovation and technology.
