Jeffrey Immelt is chairman and CEO of GE, a post he has held since 2001. He has held several leadership positions since coming to GE in 1982, including roles in GE's plastics, appliances, and health care businesses. He became an officer of GE in 1989 and joined the GE Capital Board in 1997. In 2000, he was appointed president and CEO. Immelt is a member of President Trump’s Committee on American Manufacturing and chaired the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness under the Obama administration. He was named one of the World’s Best CEOs three times by Barron’s and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
