Jeffrey Sachs

Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, Columbia University

Jeffrey Sachs is the Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development at Columbia University, where he was appointed University Professor in 2016. He directs the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia’s Earth Institute and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. From 2002 to 2016, Sachs was director of the Earth Institute. A special advisor to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, he also advised former secretaries-general Ban Ki-moon and Kofi Annan on the Millennium Development Goals. Sachs previously spent over 20 years as a professor at Harvard University. Co-recipient of the 2015 Blue Planet Prize, he has twice been named to the TIME 100 list of influential world leaders.
