Jennifer Ackerman is an author who has been writing about science and nature for three decades. The most recent of her seven books, the New York Times best-seller The Genius of Birds, was a finalist for several awards. Ackerman’s previous books include Notes from the Shore; Chance in the House of Fate: A Natural History of Heredity; and Sex Sleep Eat Drink Dream: A Day in the Life of Your Body. Her articles and essays have appeared in National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times, Scientific American, and others. Ackerman has received an NEA Literature Fellowship in Nonfiction, a Bunting Institute Fellowship, and an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant.
